    Check-in is from 4:00pm until 11:00pm. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate check-ins after 11:00pm.

If you know you’ll be arriving later, we can usually arrange for you to collect your key earlier in the afternoon so you can return at a time that suits you. Just let us know in advance so we can make the arrangements.

Check-out is by 10:00am on your day of departure.

  • Is there parking at Duke of Cornwall?

Yes — we have a large private car park at the back of the inn, which is free of charge for guests, patrons, and visitors. There’s no need to book, register, or use any frustrating check-in system — just park and enjoy your time with us.

  • Do you serve breakfast or food?

We don’t currently serve breakfast or meals, but being just a short distance from Charlestown means you’ll have a great choice of cafés, restaurants, and pubs nearby. From hearty Cornish breakfasts to fresh seafood, there’s something for everyone within minutes of our door.

    Breakfast & cafés:

    • Charlies Coffee House – hearty breakfasts, light lunches, and excellent coffee.

    Restaurants & pubs:

    • The Longstore – modern restaurant famous for its steaks, seafood, and cocktails.
    • The Pier House – traditional Cornish pub with sea views and classic pub meals.
    • Tall Ships Tavern – relaxed pub food and pints in a historic harbour setting.

From coffee and pastries to fresh seafood dinners, you’ll be spoiled for choice just minutes from our door.

  • Can I bring my dog or pet?

We’re unable to accept pets in the accommodation, but well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar areas.

  • Is your accommodation family-friendly?

Our guest rooms are for adults only, creating a relaxed and peaceful stay. However, children are very welcome in the pub when accompanied by their families.

  • When is the bar open?

The bar is open every day from lunchtime until midnight.

  • What local attractions are nearby?

We’re perfectly placed for exploring some of Cornwall’s best-loved destinations:

    • Charlestown Harbour – a UNESCO World Heritage Site harbour, famous for its tall ships and appearances in Poldark.
    • Eden Project – world-famous biomes, gardens, and exhibitions (10 minutes by car).
    • Lost Gardens of Heligan – one of the UK’s most celebrated restored gardens (15 minutes by car).
    • Mevagissey – a traditional fishing village with narrow streets, pubs, and harbour views (15 minutes by car).
    • Fowey – a picturesque estuary town with boutique shops, river ferries, and waterside dining (20 minutes by car).
  • What’s the nearest beach?

The nearest is Porthpean Beach, just under 2 miles away (about 5 minutes by car or 30 minutes on foot). It’s a sheltered sandy beach popular with swimmers and families, with parking available nearby. Crinnis Beach at Carlyon Bay is also close, offering a wide stretch of sand, seasonal food stalls, and ample car parking.

  • Do you have entertainment in the pub?

Yes — you can enjoy our games room with a pool table and darts, or relax by the wood-burning stove in the main bar and the open fire in the lounge bar.

Testimonials

Used as a base for visiting the Eden Project, so ideal location. Very good value for money and also very clean. The bed was very comfortable and had a good night's sleep despite the room located on a busy road and pedestrian crossing outside. Would definitely recommend and use again. The host was very helpful about eating out in the locatality as kitchen out of use.

Great location for a stroll down to Charlestown, in about 15 minutes, where there are great pubs, cafés and restaurants, plus beach, swimming, harbour and sea views. Slightly harder walk back up the hill.

I had a great time staying at the Duke of Cornwall! The two guys who have recently taken over the pub & hotel were incredibly friendly and seemed keen to provide an excellent experience for guests. I was travelling alone, and so the friendly atmosphere was very welcomed.
